NIne days to a healthy back

An Intensive Program

 

I recently held an intensive series of lessons designed to teach the fundamentals of good movement and increase overall well being.  The participants were all pleased with the experience and with what they learned and this has inspired me to offer another intensive series.  The format will be similar - six sessions in nine days - but the emphasis will be on the back.  The series will offer increased flexibility and strength and along with it the elimination or reduction of pain and stiffness.

As is always the case with the Anat Baniel Method, we are really working with the brain.  Since the brain is responsible for directing operations and telling the body how to move, then it follows that increasing the number of options the brain has available to perform an action will allow a better configuration to be selected.  At this moment you can only do what you know how to do and you can only move in the way that you already know how to move.  If you (your brain) learns new ways to move any given part and new ways to move a given part relative to another part, you will be able to move in ways that avoid pain and make your “issue” irrelevant.

You learn these new options by being led through precisely designed movement sequences that give you (your brain) the information you need to come up with better solutions for any given action.  Once your brain has learned new options it will spontaneously select the configuration that best suits your needs at any given moment.  No manipulation of bones or muscles is necessary and since the solution lies within, the change in your actions will be permanent.

During this series I will lead you through six movement lessons and give hands on guidance when needed.  I will also teach some theory that will be helpful and share some things I learned in my own recovery from a severe back injury.  You will receive recordings of the lessons so that you can deepen the work in your own time and place.

Enrollment will be limited to the first four people to sign up because I want to be able to give personal attention.  If you are too late to enroll I will consider running the program again.  Also, if you would like to come but cannot manage the times, let me know and I will try and hold another series at a time that suits your schedule better.

Healthy Backs

Over 80% of Americans suffer from back pain at some point during their lives.  Back pain is often slow to diminish and can return with the smallest of exertions.  In addition, most people have great limitations in the way they move and use their back, even when free of pain.

In this three hour workshop participants will discover new, easy, safe and powerful ways to move their backs.  Those participants suffering from back pain will discover the path to overcoming their pain and limitations.

Comfortable Necks & Shoulders 

“It’s a pain in the neck” and “shouldering the burden” are just two of many expressions that may have found their way into our language because of the discomfort many people feel in these areas.  Life does not have to be this way.  You don’t have to continue to suffer with a stiff neck or a sore shoulder.  This workshop is designed to teach you how to move more smoothly and easily in ways that promote comfort in your neck and shoulders.  Afterwards you may well find that you have less of a burden to shoulder and that things are no longer a pain in the neck!

Easy Hands & Arms 

Whatever you do with your hands - play an instrument, make things, or use a computer, this workshop is for you.  We all use our hands all day, every day, and we can all learn to use them better.

This workshop consists of a selection of movement lessons designed to increase the mobility of your hands for smoother, easier and more comfortable dexterity.  Great for anyone with discomfort in the hands, fingers or wrists.  Perfect for anybody who wants to improve the use of their hands for work, art, music or other activities.
